This patient's improvement was not the result of a face lift at all: she only had a liposuction under the chin.  Liposuction cannot be performed as the only procedure unless the skin is young and elastic enough to "shrink-wrap" to the contour of the neck after the excess fat under the skin is removed.

In a person who has lived long enough to lose skin elasticity, the skin would just hang down unattractively if the fat were removed without using a face lift to tighten the skin at the same time.
