Trauma to the nose can result in an overgrowth of bone, resulting in a hump.  Visible changes in the nose due to trauma are often associated with difficulty breathing because the septum is fractured at the same time as the nose.  A rhinoplasty can make the nose look uninjured again and restore the breathing.
