When the ear protrudes from the head, the profile view shows the ear edge
on. Bringing the ear closer to the head allows us to see the face of the
ear in the profile view. Note the presence of the normal ear folds in the
after picture.
The ear often looks bigger in the after photo of this profile view because
with the ear closer to the head, we are seeing the face of the ear rather than
just the edge.
