The ear can actually look a little bigger from the side view after surgery, because before the operation, when it is sticking out away from the head, we see it edge-on, as in the before photo above. After surgery, when the ear is flatter against the head, we see more of the ear from this side view, and the ear can appear to be larger. Check out his hair in his after picture. I had his parents clean the incision line with hydrogen peroxide after surgery, and I think they bleached him out a little. Return to the Ear surgery home page.
