Skin peel and face lift

This woman had a face lift to reduce the jowling and excess skin, followed by a peel of her entire face to treat the wrinkles.

In general, the face lift operation removes sags, bulges, and extra skin, whereas the peel is used to tighten the skin surface and smooth its wrinkled texture. Many people require both procedures for optimum improvement.

We can't perform a peel of the entire face at the very same time as a face lift operation. It is too much to ask the skin to heal on its surface from the peel at the same time that it must heal underneath from the face lift. If we want to perform both procedures, we do the face lift first, followed by the skin peel about six weeks later.

However, if you require a peel only around your mouth, a peel of that area can be done at the same time as your face lift.

She had a skin peel around her mouth at the same time as her face lift.

Wrinkles are not the only facial features that can be improved with a peel.  Some people develop many of the raised, scaly, brownish lesions called actinic keratoses which come from many years of sun exposure. The rough growths are removed by the peel, and they usually do not return.  Dark age spots of the skin can also be improved with a skin peel.
