FAQ:

Do you always use plastic during plastic surgery?

Nope.  The word "plastic" in "plastic surgery" doesn't imply the use of the material that we call plastic.  "Plastic" comes from the Greek work transliterated "plastikos," which means to mold or to form.  The plastic cup in your cupboard got its name from the same root: the material called plastic can be molded or formed.  So the "plastic" in "plastic surgery" doesn't mean that a plastic material is used; it means that we are trying to change something's shape or form.
