Still working with the scissors, I continue to separate the skin from the tip cartilages, which are also called the "lower lateral cartilages."  The patient's left lower lateral cartilage is colored blue in the diagram.  Pink shading indicated the undersurface of the skin that was covering the cartilages of the tip of the nose.

We have succeeded in releasing the skin from the tip of the nose.  The left and right lower lateral cartilages are easily visible as the double hook holds the skin of the tip of the nose away so we can see better.  The right lower lateral cartilage is colored pink and the left lower lateral cartilage is colored blue.  The trans-columellar incision is white.
