Questioner: Can I Keep the Length of my Nose?
I spoke to a plastic surgeon and I told him that I am happy with the length of my nose as it compliments my oval face. The surgeon agreed. I was to get a nose job mainly to remove a dorsal hump. But the surgeon told me that my nose will be shorter after surgery (about 0.5cm) due to the shape of it now. I think.a short nose will look out of place. i also askd if i could leave everything as it is and only remove the dorsal hump and he said that this will make my nose look cartoonish?

Dr. Denenberg's answer: You would benefit from a shorter nose when the hump is taken down
I agree that if the hump is taken down, your tip should be elevated, and the tip should also be brought back closer to your face. When a hump is removed, the nose usually LOOKS longer, even if it wasn't MADE longer. The Web link gives you two morphs, one showing just a take-down of the hump, and the other showing hump removal with a modest elevation of the tip and bringing the tip back closer to the face as well. A prominent hump can mask the fact that the nose is strong in its forward projection away from the face, so if the only change is the hump removal, it usually generates as many problems as it fixes! Make sure your surgeon shows you photos to prove that he is expert in tip work, because it is the tip work that allows the tip to elevate and move back closer to the face.
