How short should a nose be?  The factors we consider are the patient's age, sex, height, preferences, as well as some more subtle considerations, including the nose's vertical height, the length of the upper lip, the thickness of the skin, and other factors.

If you don't mind looking at photos that were taken during surgery, the surgery tutorials on rhinoplasty contain a discussion of how to decide the final length of the nose.

Questioner: Non-surgical Nose Job Procedures to Reduce Nose Size?
Are there any non-surgical procedures to make my nose smaller, or is surgery my only option?
(Questioner submitted photos)

Dr. Denenberg's answer: Nasal Reduction
Unfortunately, nasal reductioncannot be accomplished without surgical intervention. Nonsurgical rhinoplastyutilizes injectable fillers to correct nasal contour irregularities. Yourparticular deformity will require surgical rhinoplasty and consultation with aboard-certified plastic surgeon.
