The base view can also demonstrate that the nose was deprojected.  When a nose is brought back closer to the face, the distance from the tip of the nose back to where the nose attaches to the upper lip decreases, decreasing the height of this triangular base view.

As the tip comes closer to the face, the nostrils widen out a touch.  If they seem as though they will widen excessively, I use a nostril-narrowing procedure during the rhinoplasty to keep them from bulging out too far.

Questioner: Are these enough qualifications for a Rhinoplasty surgeon?
I already met with dr (?) and feel comfortable to go with him to perform my rhinoplasty. I just want to make sure he has the right qualifications. “ABMS MOC” Maintenance of Certifcation (MOC) by the American Board of Plastic Surgery Current Diplomat, American Board of Plastic Surgery Current Certification of Advanced Cosmetic Surgery Past Diplomat, American Board of Surgery
(Questioner submitted photos)

Dr. Denenberg's answer: Looking for these qualifications can get you in big trouble
There are lots of boards and groups that certify and evaluate surgeons who perform rhinoplasty.

But you want to know the *skill* of your doctor. The great majority of doctors who do rhinoplasty are mediocre at this operation, and the only way to tell the doctor's skill is to review his before and after photos. Board certification means almost nothing at all. Ignore the diplomas and look at the photos. See whether he has been able to accomplish for others precisely what you want for yourself.

If you find yourself looking for a revision operation later, having picked a doctor with the "right" qualifications this time will be very little comfort indeed.
